2 Missing Firefighters Found Dead in Car Amid Desperate Search

Officials have provided a timeline regarding two Georgia firefighters who were found dead in Tennessee on Sunday — nearly a week after their reported disappearance.

Though WJCL reported that Raegan Anderson and possibly Chandler Kuhbander were last seen alive on Monday, June 24 near the Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah, Georgia. WXIA reported that the Hinesville firefighters were last seen on Tuesday at Liberty County Fire Services Station #1 in Midway.

Before Anderson and Kuhbander’s bodies were discovered on Sunday, police said they believed they were in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area in Tennessee.

Hinesville police said the pair was found dead in a car in Cosby, Tennessee, more than 300 miles away from where they vanished nearly a week earlier. Police have not said what led up to their deaths, and an autopsy to confirm their cause and manner of death is pending.

In a statement, Hinesville police offered their “deepest condolences to the Anderson and Kuhbander families during this incredibly difficult time.”
